In July 2013 a tropical cyclone called Typhoon Soulik roared through Taiwan causing a huge amount of destruction. The torrential rains that accompanied it lead to 8,000 people being evacuated from the mountainous areas around Taipei due to the fear of landslides. As a result of the flooding, the water services were badly damaged and the important irrigation channels feeding the farming areas around the mountains were destroyed.
Following this event, in mid-2014 the Taiwanese Government set up a project to install new water pipelines to the agricultural communities around Mount Guanyin. The question was how to install new pipelines in this relatively remote rocky area which was prone to flooding.
TDC provided the additional security in applying PE100RC pipeline in the project, from OD63mm to OD20mm, and to suspend the pipes from cables in the most difficult areas!
